Middle School Students Research Careers at GSE

0

Students and teachers from City Knoll Middle School in Manhattan recently visited Fordham GSE to learn about careers as faculty members and administrators at a university. The students were conducting research at various companies around the city with the purpose of exploring career options and learning about the educational and professional steps needed to obtain those careers.

Clinical assistant professor Jacqueline Gonzalez, Ed.D., put together and hosted a panel consisting of GSE faculty and administrators, including clinical assistant professor Shannon Waite, Ed.D.; director of admissions and enrollment services Arveal Drummer; director of field placements Stanley Kaminsky; and director of marketing and communications Kelly Milnes.

Gonzalez and the City Knoll staff moderated a session where students surveyed the panelists with particular emphasis on goal setting and core values, especially as they relate to the core values of City Knoll (i.e. Commitment to Academic Excellence, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity). After the trip, students synthesized and analyzed the data from all of their research trips.
