Fordham University’s Center for Educational Partnerships (CEP) aims to foster student achievement through collaboration with surrounding communities. Recently, the CEP has hosted several events throughout New York State to further this mission.
On Oct. 25, students and staff at P.S. 306/M.S. 331,a CEP-affiliated school, celebrated the grand opening of their newly designed, environmentally conscious playground. This project, nearly four years in the making, reflects the pride Bronx community members feel for their home borough. Distinguished attendees included the Hon. Ritchie Torres, U.S. Congressman; the Hon. Vanessa L. Gibson, Bronx Borough President; the Hon. Pierina Ana Sanchez, New York City Council member; Fordham University President Tania Tetlow; Ji Seon Lee, Ph.D., acting dean of Fordham’s Graduate School of Education; and Anita Batisti, Ph.D., director of the CEP. This state-of-the-art playground provides open space and equipment for all to enjoy.
On Nov. 12–13, the Professional Development Resource Center at Fordham’s CEP partnered with the New York State Coalition for Independent and Religious Schools (NYSCRIS) to host the 40th annual RISE Leadership Conference in Albany. Approximately 300 leaders from religious and independent schools across New York gathered to discuss best practices in teaching and leadership. Marc Brackett, Ph.D., the keynote speaker, emphasized the significance of emotional intelligence for school leaders, teachers, and students.
