Fordham University Holmes Scholars is a program designed to support and empower students who are enthusiastic about pursuing a Ph.D. and who desire to pursue a career as faculty in higher education. The Holmes Scholars program offers an array of resources and opportunities for professional development, all aimed at preparing these students to excel in their academic and research pursuits, ultimately positioning
them favorably for tenure-track faculty positions.
The selection criteria primarily revolve around the students’ demonstrated commitment to becoming professors and researchers and exceptional academic performance within their respective doctoral programs.
The scholarship committee faced a difficult challenge in selecting the awardees due to the stellar qualifications of all applicants. As difficult as it was, the committee recommended the top candidates and the dean made the final selection:
Marcela Chavez – First Year Doctoral Student in the Division of Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy
Anthony E. Easter – First Year Doctoral Student in the Division of Psychological and Educational Services
Chanel Francis – First Year Doctoral Student in the Division of Curriculum and Teaching
