Fordham Graduate School of Education and the Division of Education, Leadership and Policy (ELAP) will be hosting their annual Barbara L. Jackson Ed.D., Lecture on Monday, November 18th. This event will take place at 5:30 ET on the 12th-Floor Lounge, E. Gerald Corrigan Conference Center of the Lowenstein Building at the Lincoln Center Campus.
This year’s keynote speaker is author and educator Rosa Rivera-McCutchen, Ph.D. Rivera-McCutchen is currently a Professor of Administration & Supervision at CUNY Hunter College. She also serves as a faculty affiliate in the CUNY Graduate Center’s Urban Education Ph.D. program and the NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. As a former Bronx public school teacher and a first-generation college graduate, Rivera-McCutchen’s personal experiences motivate her in advancing justice and equity in education.
Rivera-McCutchen will draw from her book Radical Care: Leading for Justice in Urban Schools to discuss this concept of “radical care” as a leadership practice that centers anti-racism and equity in schools. Rivera-McCutchen will share insights on how school leaders can foster more just and equitable learning environments, while additionally offering practical strategies for educators to create more supportive and affirming experiences for marginalized students and to overall work towards a broader systemic transformation.
This annual lecture series honors the distinguished scholarship and educational leadership contributions of Barbara. L. Jackson, Ed.D. Jackson served as a professor in the ELAP division of the Graduate School of Education from 1987 to 2003 and chair of the division from 1997 to 2003.
