The Fordham Graduate School of Education is proud to announce that Carolyn Velazquez-Atis, Administrative Assistant to the Dean, was presented with the Sursum Corda Award for the 2021-2022 academic year. The award – “lifting up of hearts” – was established in 2005 by Joseph M. In part, the citation noted that Carolyn has proved to be the heart and soul of the GSE’s operations. Specifically, her dedication to the work of the institution has earned her the respect of all within the GSE as well as throughout the Fordham campus community. Her tenacity in expertly learning the intricacies of policies and curriculum, and navigating university protocols, has made her the go-to person for resolving administrative challenges. In addition, Carolyn is recognized as a role model for all GSE staff, and her work ethic and professionalism are unmatched.

“Carolyn is the best dean’s assistant I’ve ever had. I am thankful for her wonderful support and the GSE is very fortunate to have Carolyn as a key member of our team. She is dedicated to always improving our practice,” noted Dean Alvarado.
