Online open houses for prospective Fordham GSE students have been held throughout the pandemic, making it possible to continuously offer information about all available programs, including the on-campus, in-person opportunities that returned this fall.
“One of the many things we’ve learned during this time is that students are still interested in continuing their educations and learning about possible programs to pursue, even in an online format,” noted GSE Director of Admissions Abraham Johnson. “Because of that, we will continue to offer online open houses as an option for interested students.”
Like those held in person, the most recent online admissions events included a welcome address from dean José Luis Alvarado, Ph.D., followed by Johnson’s overview of GSE’s unique programs, the application process, and costs and financial aid.
During follow-up academic program breakout sessions, open house attendees were able to speak directly with faculty members representing each of the programs. The breakout sessions included more specific program overviews, outlines of course sequences, examples of academic workshops, and in some cases input from alumni and current students.
“These events appear to be much better suited for our students in some ways,” concluded Johnson. “The majority of our students work full time and thus often find it more convenient to attend online versus in-person events after work hours.”
