GSE Co-Sponsors Panel on Forced Displacement of Internally Displaced Persons

Internally displaced persons (IDPs) are among the most vulnerable people in the world, and the number of those fleeing violence and conflict is estimated at 40.3 million, with an unknown number of people displaced as a result of natural disasters. To address this issue, UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons, Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, LL.B., LL.M., will present Forced Displacement: The Unheeded Plight of Internally Displaced Persons, on October 22  at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus, McMahon Hall, Room 109, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

The event will feature Fordham University panelists Marciana Popescu, Ph.D., Graduate School of Social Service; Eric Chen, Ph.D., Graduate School of Education; and Filiep Decorte, Deputy Director, UN-Habitat – New York Office. The conversation is co-presented by Fordham University’s Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education, Graduate School of Social Service, Graduate School of Education, and the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs, in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN Habitat).
