On May 17, 2018 the Fordham Graduate School of Education’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Anthony Canvanna, Ed.D., was officially appointed President-Elect of the New York Academy of Public Education (NYAPE). The Board of Directors officially appointed him prior to NYAPE’s annual Medalist Dinner honoring Betty Rosa, Ed.D., Chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents, at the Princeton Club of New York.
Cavanna joins his fellow newly named NYAPE Executive Board members: President, Giovanna Delucchi, Ph.D.; Executive Director, Michael Troy; and Treasurer, Susan Barnes.
The New York Academy for Public Education (NYAPE) was founded in 1912 as a professional honorary organization. NYAPE originally focused on the advancement and progress of urban education. Membership in the Academy today is determined by invitation from the Board of Directors, extended to those who have achieved distinction or recognition in the field of education. The Academy continues to provide a common forum and meeting ground for fostering educational activities between the professional community and the public-at-large.
