Alumnus Hakim Lucas Named President of Virginia Union University

Hakim J. Lucas, Ph.D., has been named the 13th president of Virginia Union University (VUU). Lucas, a 2010 graduate of the Church and Non-Public School Leadership doctoral program, worked in a variety of roles in higher education, including fundraising, strategic planning, and enrollment management at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

“Throughout the search process, Dr. Lucas impressed the committee with his clear vision for liberal arts education and creating an enhanced student experience,” said Rev. W. Franklyn Richardson, D.Min, chairman of the VUU Board of Trustees. “He is an energetic and wise leader and we believe that he will serve Virginia Union University well.”
