In 2016, GSE Counseling Psychology doctoral program graduates earned a 100% pass rate on the Examination for Professional Practice of Psychology (EPPP). The scores rank among the highest for doctoral programs in the New York metropolitan area. GSE graduates scored particularly well in the areas of cognitive-affective bases of behavior; growth and lifespan development; assessment and diagnosis; and treatment/intervention.
The EPPP is developed by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) and covers several content areas “required for the various responsibilities psychologists are expected to assume in professional practice.” According to “Predictors of program performance on the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP)” published in Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, EPPP scores are positively correlated with factors such as program prestige and selectivity.
